What operating system do I need?

Windows XP or more recent, Mac OS X 10.3 or higher, or Linux.

What browsers work best?

Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, Safari 1.0 or higher, or Firefox 1.1 or higher.
Medflicks displays best on Firefox, which can be downloaded free at www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox

What cameras can I use to make my videos?

Most digital cameras and camcorders and cell phones that offer a movie function can be used. Video cameras that use Digital8 or MiniDV formats will also do the job.

How do I upload my videos?

1) Register a username and password with Medflicks. Registration is free and takes less than a minute. Click here to sign up.
2) Transfer your video from your camera to your computer and save it in a convenient place where you can easily find it.
3) Click on the “Upload Video” link at the top of the Medflicks website.
4) Enter a title, a description and a few “tags” (or keywords) for your video. Select the categories in which you think your video should appear.
5) Click “Choose file” and select the video you want to upload from your computer.
6) Click “Upload.”

What file formats can I upload?

Make sure the file name of the video you wish to upload ends with one of the following extensions: mov, mpg, avi, wmv, 3gp, mp4, asf, flv, mpeg.

What can I do to speed up the time it takes to upload my videos?

The bigger the file, the longer the upload time. (As a general rule, allow a good 60 seconds for each megabyte of video you are uploading, e.g. a 5 MB file will take approximately 5 minutes to upload.)
To speed up the process, it’s best to reduce the size of the file and optimize it for showing on the web before you upload it. You can use software such as Movie Maker (for Windows) and iMoviePro (for Macs).

Why won’t the videos on the site play on my computer?

Download and install the appropriate version of Adobe Flash Player for your computer. It’s free. It can be downloaded at http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer

I forgot my password and/or username. Can you send them to me?

Click on the “I forgot my password” on the homepage (or click here to go there directly) to get your username and password emailed to you at the email you used to register for Medflicks.

How do I remove a video I uploaded?

Go to your account. All the videos you’ve uploaded appear there. Click on the “Remove” button associated with the video you wish to take off the site.

How do I embed a Medflicks video so it appears on my website, blog or Facebook page?

Underneath every video on Medflicks, there is an HTML code for embedding. Simply copy it and paste it into your site’s code. You can also share a video with your friends by email or a variety of other ways by clicking on the “Share This” icon below each video.
